Homeownership is one of the clearest reflections of that vision. It represents more than a financial milestone; it’s the creation of a space where memories are made, traditions are established, and future generations are nurtured.

But while the dream of owning a home can feel exciting, the process itself can often feel intimidating, especially when no one ever taught us how to navigate it.

Y’all know how much I love my hometown of Charleston, but let’s be honest– the entire country knows and loves Charleston too. Columbia is, in many ways, South Carolina’s best-kept secret—and this festival is when it fully reveals itself. For nearly one week, the city transforms into a thoughtfully curated culinary destination, where many events are steeped in history and set in spaces that feel both intimate and storied.

This isn’t a trend or a phase. It’s a long-haul journey.. one that is measured in decades, not years. Impact, not influence.

The desire came mid-2025 when I started to look around and think “one day my generation will be the grandmas… but will we be ready?” I looked at my life, compared it to my grandmother’s (and my great-great-grandmother’s) and what I think of her fondly for, and thought “nope, I’m nowhere near ready”.

Growing up they were a staple at Sunday dinner, so I had watched my grandma make them countless times. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized she never used recipe cards for this dish (or really any); everything was by memory. And I honestly didn’t realize just how hard that would be for me until I followed her around the kitchen one day, writing it all down!!

As women, we can romanticize those memories, or we can bring that same nostalgic energy into our everyday lives. Creating a gentle, daily schedule that emphasizes your femininity while mirroring the charm of summer camp will allow you to savor this month (and the season) with intention—embracing play, rest, and creativity in equal measure.

One of my 2025 intentions is to be more dedicated to my daily devotionals. I picked up this routine during Covid and did it regularly through my pregnancy, but as life got busier I admit that it became less of a routine and more of something I did when I had slow mornings.

Not everyone is in the office at the same time, so the trick was figuring out when everyone could attend. We landed on 11am one Wednesday morning, so since that didn’t really feel like “party time” we though it would be fun to turn it into a pj party.
