The desire came mid-2025 when I started to look around and think “one day my generation will be the grandmas… but will we be ready?” I looked at my life, compared it to my grandmother’s (and my great-great-grandmother’s) and what I think of her fondly for, and thought “nope, I’m nowhere near ready”.

One dish that’s always going to be at our table, no matter the holiday, is collard greens. Growing up they were a staple at Sunday dinner, so I had watched my grandma make them countless times. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized  she never used recipe cards for this dish (or really any); everything was by memory. You know we love any excuse for a party here at the SoP HQ, so we weren’t going to let the semester end (yes, we still count semesters bc we have interns on our team) without celebrating the holidays with our entire office.

Not everyone is in the office at the same time, so the trick was figuring out when everyone could attend. We landed on 11am one Wednesday morning, so since that didn’t really feel like “party time” we though it would be fun to turn it into a pj party.
