Tiffany’s Blue Box Café: The Ultimate Galentine’s Date Spot

Nestled within The Landmark, Tiffany’s iconic 5th Avenue flagship store in New York City, is the Blue Box Café by Daniel Boulud. This long-awaited eatery recently reopened after closing its doors in 2019. And trust me, it’s the ultimate indulgence for every Breakfast At Tiffany’s fan.

Not long ago, I had a few girlfriends in town and it seemed fitting to plan a trip to Tiffany’s. Now, securing a table at this sought-after destination requires a bit of planning. Finding no luck with Resy, I stopped by in person. Since I’m local, it was a small effort to guarantee a table for six.

Upon entering, you’ll notice the café is outfitted entirely in Tiffany Blue. The brand’s signature hue lines everything, from the plush chairs to the marble walls, and even the tableware. Overhead, little blue boxes are gracefully suspended.

But the decor isn’t the only draw, so be prepared to dig in. I highly recommend afternoon tea. It’s an homage to the British tradition, served on a classic silver-tiered stand and complete with scones and an array of pastries. From the à la carte menu, the lobster salad (homard au bleu) was a crowd fave. It’s naturally-colored Tiffany blue lobster gelée with red cabbage slaw and a poached lobster tail on top. And we couldn’t resist a bottle of bubbly for the occasion.

As women of color enjoying our tea and conversations, we felt a profound sense of belonging. We weren’t just occupying a space—we were redefining it. The Blue Box Café, inspired by a movie that lacked diversity, was now a backdrop for our laughter and stories.

For us, afternoon tea wasn’t just a meal, it was a statement. We deserve these experiences, too. Luxurious spaces are for us, too—to enjoy, celebrate, and claim as our own.
