Since its creation, it has become an annual celebration of fashion, is attended by who’s who of the industry, and is watched live by millions of people around the world. The Met Gala serves as a charity event for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute and marks the opening of the museum’s annual fashion exhibition.
This year’s exhibition honors Karl Lagerfeld through “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,”. Lagerfeld designed for many luxury houses of fashion including Patou, Balmain, Chloé, and Fendi, but he is most known for his work with Chanel. The 150-piece exhibit focuses on his works from 1933-2019 and features sketches that demonstrate his complex and creative process in designing his works.
