If you’re on the journey of becoming a ‘future matriarch’ with MPR, then you know that we are sharing activities weekly that help us reach that goal– in a few decades or so. Every Sunday we share another piece to our guide which offers intentional, actionable steps meant to support you as you build a life rooted in clarity, care, purpose, and longevity.
We believe reflection, understanding, and constant thinking is essential on this journey because without it we can’t lead others. So each week you’ll receive a new prompt to help you discover your voice. We’re calling it Well-Worn Words and its invitation to record this journey (for you or someone else to look back on). Not to write perfectly or publicly, but to write honestly. Reflection is a foundational part of ‘becoming’, because you cannot steward others well without first understanding yourself. Writing gives us a space to slow down, to notice what’s driving us, and to meet ourselves with curiosity rather than judgement.
Since we’re cocooning this month, we think it’s also a great time to focus on setting intentions for the year… AND DECADE ahead. Now is a great time to gently examine the past while intentionally shaping the future. While it’s true that you can begin at any moment, this season offers an opportunity for a meaningful pause— a place to stand, look around, and choose your next steps with care.
Below we’ll share a new diary prompt each week. We think it would be really cool if you started an actual diary to record these. But, we’ve also created a printable PDF template. We just really want you to physically write, reflect, and keep your entries as a record of your growth over time.
Take your time with it. Revisit it if needed. Let it meet you where you are. And of course, we’d be happy to hear any thoughts you’d like to share (megan@shadesofpinck.com).
Journal Entry 001:
Prompt: Setting Intentions for 2026
As you begin 2026, allow yourself to think long-term. Let this journey be guided by steadiness, care, and clarity. What you choose now becomes the foundation others will one day stand on. Start by listing at least eight things that describe “the type of woman you want to be”. It can be as serious as “goes to church every Sunday” or as whimsical as “bakes the best brownies in the neighborhood”.
Reflection Questions:
- What’s something youy need to let go of to become at least ONE of the things you listed above?
- How would you define ‘matriarch’? And who comes to mind when you think of the word?
- What do you want to feel more of in your life by the end of 2026?
- What values do you hope to pass on to future generations?
- What’s your most valued family memory?
