With a stay-at-home order in place, I craved the outdoors and hence turned my terrace into my own little flower garden. A place where through the chaos of the world, I found peace in the rhythm of planting, watering , pruning, and watching things grow.

Flowers brighten a room and add a sweet touch to any area. I like to think of it as “adding a little life”! But grand vases and giant bouquets aren’t always a great option. Not only can they be costly, they only add something to one specific space. And once they die, you have to throw the entire thing away– which can feel like such a waste.

It really is my happy place and where I find solace. I truly missed it over the winter when everything was dormant and the weather was too brutal to sit outside. I counted down the days to spring when I could bring life back and enjoy it again.

When it was finally time to update my plants earlier this season I knew I wanted to include more veggies, but I wanted to choose ones that I would actually use.

Not only was transforming my patio into a garden terrace a much needed time consuming project during Covid, it became an opportunity to check in with myself each morning.

Caring for (much simpler) living things is such a friendly reminder of how magnificent it is to be alive; and how little one truly needs to grow + thrive!
