The Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Fall: Fall Foliages

As much as we love summer (and we really do!!) we’re always reallyyy excited to welcome a seasonal change. And there’s just something about ushering in fall that feels like a need to reset. In fact, fall one may be our favorite seasonal shift of them all! When October rolls in it feels like nature starts to slow down again and a part of our souls exhale a bit. As the air cools and the days begin to shorten we feel more a little more at ease and the desire to refocus and recommit.  Think: cozy meals at home, weekends celebrating harvests, and your favorite textiles layered on top of you.

Suddenly, it feels like the universe is giving you permission to slow down, reap all the hard work you’ve spent the year putting in, and squeeze out your last bit of effort to accomplish all the goals you set for yourself this year. If you were to ask the PINCK team what fall feels like, we would say this:

But all seasons are fleeting! And fall is no different. As soon as you start to notice the weather begin to change, it’s Halloween. And before you blink we’re skating feet first into Thanksgiving and Christmas. But we want to help you make the most of it!

Rather you’re planning a season for your girlfriends, are trying to add magic to the season for children, or just try to create traditions for a multi-generation family we know exactly what you should be doing over the next couple of weeks!

That’s why we figured we’d spend the first couple of weeks this month sharing the Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Fall Season. Each post will help you navigate fall so that it doesn’t pass by too quickly without you having the opportunity to check everything off of your own Fall Bucket List. See team PINCK’s Fall Bucket list below!

Let’s kick things off the ultimate guide to fall with Step 1: Head Outdoors for a Seasonal Activity

This may seem pretty simple, but one thing you should be sure you do this season is plan to spend a few hours one afternoon outside doing at least one super cliche activity. Because even if it feels cheesy, there’s a reason people have been doing these things for generations. They allow us to reconnect with nature and appreciate change. They also prepare us to do exactly what nature is about to do, rest. Fall is a reminder that going dormant is necessary for growth. So slow down, rest, and move in accordance with nature!!

Note: you can make these outings as big or as small as you want! All of these can take place in your neighborhood, on a mountain trip, or anything in between!

Take a drive through fall foliage

Changing leaves are one of the most obvious symbols of this season! And there’s just something so inspiring about witnessing the trees transform into fiery shades of red, orange, and gold right before they fall off for the winter. Probably because it’s such a reminder of the cycles of change and how necessary (and beautiful) they all are. One thing we can’t recommend enough is driving through a landscape with nothing but leaves ablaze. Whether you make a day trip or turn it into a weekend getaway, a foliage adventure should definitely be on your bucket list. If, like us, you’re based in South Carolina then this is your time to visit our brothers up north and make a stop in: Asheville, Bryson City, and Highlands. They’re all known for their mountain views and tree-lined roads that practically look painted during this time of year. If you really want to make this a tradition, gather a group and rent a house or stay in a hotel in one of these mountain towns!

Go Apple Picking

Apple picking isn’t just visiting a farm — it’s about stepping into crisp autumn air, walking through rows of trees heavy with ripe fruit, and experiencing the simple, grounding joy of what the earth can produce. It’s a chance to slow down, connect with nature, and make memories you can literally take a bite out of. Plus, nothing beats a dessert made with apples you’ve picked yourself!! If you’re local to Columbia, check out this old blog post that shares MPR’s experience at Justus Orchard. If you can’t make it to an orchard, I still recommend purchasing a bushel of apples from a local farm and use them to bake an apple recipe. I usually get my recipes from Pinterest!

Visit A Pumpkin Patch

And last but certainly not least it’s just not fall if you don’t visit a pumpkin patch! Whether you plan to carve, bake, or use it as decoration on your porch, nothing is more symbolic of the season than spending the afternoon at a pumpkin patch searching for the perfect pumpkin . Most patches also have other activities like hayrides, corn mazes, and fall treats, so you can turn it into a full day of fall fun. And honestly, you don’t even have to bring the pumpkins home with you. You can use the patch as a “mile marker” in life for you or anyone you care about. Doesn’t matter which age you start, if from this year on you always took a picture with the same group at that same pumpkin patch, think of the stories those photographs would tell!

Of course, getting outside and experiencing the crisp air is just Step 1 in the Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Fall season. We’ll be sharing steps 2 through 5 throughout the next couple of weeks. Blog posts go live on shadesofpinck.com Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Here’s to making this the coziest fall yet!
