If you’re a boy mom like me (or have a daughter that loves nature and the great outdoors) then you must add SEWE (Southeastern Wildlife Exposition) to your events calendar. Every February, SEWE celebrates all the outdoors has to offer through black tie events, fine art, live demonstrations, and countless special events around downtown Charleston.
As the biggest event of its kind in the US, you’ll find artists, craftsmen, collectors, and sporting enthusiasts from all over the country. The weekend starts with a gala at the iconic Charleston Place Hotel, where people get all dolled up (yes sometimes even in camo tuxedos) to have first dibs on the fine art auction. The weekend continues mostly in Marion Square + Brittlebank Park where you’ll find sheep and duck herding demons, birds of pray flight demos, fly fishing demos, cooking demonstrations, and (our personal fave) dogs competing for the longest jump off of a dock. If the wilderness is your thing, or you’re looking to amaze your little ones, this fun-filled weekend is a MUST.
