I absolutely love Halloween!! I live for excuses to get dressed up and be around people that are obsessing over their outfit as much as I am. Halloween is that night, except on steroids because it allows –no encourages– everyone to go as over the top as they possibly can!
Every year I tell myself I’m going to plan my costume weeks in advance to ensure that I’ll have the best costume ever…but every year I end up figuring out my costume details the week of. This year was no exception! I swear we must have skipped a few days in October. There’s no way we should have flown through the month that quickly!!!
The good thing is I knew, before I even knew I wanted to be an Egyptian Goddess, that I wanted my outfit to be centered around my makeup. That made choosing what I wanted to be easier (there are only so many characters that allow a super glam look), and took a lot of the pressure off of me finding an outfit.
But that didn’t prevent me from ordering this year’s costume from Revolve at like 3:30 in the morning the Friday before. Luckily, it was like meant to be or something because I found everything I needed from them…and my accessories were all on sale! I ordered this dress (which I plan on wearing again in the future), this headpiece, and these awesome desert dweller Flash Tats!
When I decided I wanted to be an Egyptian Goddess I knew that meant I’d have to be dripping gold and glimmering bronze all night long. I couldn’t trust anyone with that task other than my girls at Pout on Devine Street. The crazy talented Katalia, took a look a few inspiration pics I found on Pinterest and created a work of art…fitting of a queen! Her choice of teal eyeshadow and the shape of my bold eyeliner took my costume over the top!
My friend Roy styled a wig that pulled my entire look together. The straight bangs, long bob, and braided pieces with gold hardware was nearly identical to the popular style! (With a ton of help from him) I wired teal colored beads and a black serpent to my head piece, sewed two different lines of gold beads to the fabric around my neck on my dress, tied a gold jersey fabric around my waist, and attached a glittered black fishnet-like fabric to two gold cuffs. I found all of those little additives at Jo-Ann Fabrics, whom I strongly suggest for all of your craft needs!
I honestly think this may be my favorite costume of all time! I felt so glamorous all night…which helped me stay in character! So much so that I’m pretty sure my costume evolved from Egyptian Goddess to full on African Queen by the end of the night! How could you not love a night that encourages that kind of behavior?!
