Dinner at Dracula’s castle // Gala SZN

You can expect one thing from Halloweekend every year…the Columbia City Ballet will perform their hit original ballet, Dracula!

At the Koger Center before the Columbia City Ballet’s Dracula Performance

This year, following the Friday night performance at the Koger Center, the company hosted a fundraising black-tie gala next door at the newly built Darla Moore School of Business.

Guests left the performance and walked straight into Dracula’s castle where they were greeted by dead corpses, giant spider webs, haunted forest animals, and a long dining room table set for a feast.

The decor was on so point and perfectly fitting of things you would expect to find throughout Dracula’s castle. Alexis Doktor did SUCH an amazing job curating objects to be placed around the venue and center pieces for our cocktail tables. Her vision single handedly transformed that space into a creepy castle.

Scott Hill KILLED it with catering! I was so impressed with the long table he decorated to look like a feast for beasts! His ability to take our theme and seriously run with it pulled the entire event together. There was so much attention to detail in his presentation. Everything he served “made sense” for a creepy castle dinner. But looks aren’t everything. Its nice when food is pretty, but really it needs to taste good. I spent most of the evening running around trying to make sure everything was going smoothly, so I didn’t get to eat much..but what I did have was absolutely delicious. I plan on using him anytime I have a themed party that needs to be catered.

The abnormally warm weather made our hopes of opening the giant glass garage door to create an indoor/outdoor flow a reality. And it was also the perfect weather to showcase Scott’s table!

This was my very first event with the ballet as a member of the Board of Directors and I was so proud to be apart of such a successful event. For the last several months all of us on the gala committee have put forth so much effort to make this gala everything we knew it could be and I truly think we pulled it off!

We plan to do this Halloween gala every year. If you didn’t make it this time please try to be apart of it next year.
