It’s hard to believe that this past January Shades of Pinck turned SEVEN years old. Feels like just yesterday I was stuck at home, with cabin fever during a snowstorm, when I mustered up the courage to finally start a blog. But Shades of Pinck, LLC won’t turn two until later this fall. That’s because it took me a really long time to not only value my content, and what I provided to companies, but also a long time to fully grasp the concept of what a non-traditional business could look like.

It’s only the end of March and Shades of Pinck has already experienced several “pinch me” moments this year. Between a feature in VOGUE, a collection collaboration with Show Me Your Mumu, and a few other things that I can’t quite mention yet.. 2021 is shaping into the greatest year for me professionally. To many it may seem like a bit of an overnight success, but I know how much work I’ve been putting in behind the scenes for the last 6 years, so I’m just extremely proud to see what it’s all shaping into.

Almost as soon as Christmas passes, a familiar phrase begins to ring: “New Year, New Me”. And while it’s easy to minimize the efforts that everyone puts into recreating themselves in January, especially when most relapse back to their “old selves” before the month even ends, I honestly believe the New Year is the perfect time to check-in with yourself and create a plan for achieving more.

While I try not to fall into the trap of reinventing myself, I have always used the New Year as an opportunity to set new goals to achieve over the following 12 months.

This past week tens of thousands of democrats invaded Philadelphia just to witness Hillary Clinton make history at the DNC by becoming the first woman ever to accept the Presidential nomination by a major political party.

I don’t care which side of the aisle you choose to stand on or how your views line up to hers, if you can’t appreciate the historical significance or be proud that this was something that could happen during your lifetime you must not realize that there are people alive right now that were born to mothers that couldn’t vote.
