Afternoon Tea at Charlotte’s Ballantyne Hotel

There’s sooo much happening right now, but here’s what’s heaviest on my heart:

Two years ago today the world watched as George Floyd was executed by the hands of law enforcement and saw first hand what my community already knew: often times people of color are treated unfairly.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Immediately, our country began having tough conversations about it’s horrific past and how those past circumstances still affect communities of color today. And organizations like #BLM doubled down on the point that Black lives should be valued the same as everyone else.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I remember the gut wrenching feeling I had that day, but it doesn’t compare to fear I have now knowing that one day my cute, cuddly little baby will also grow into a Black man and be plagued by the same resistance. I’ve seen the cultural changes that have taken place over the past 2 years and it does give me comfort, but when tragedies like the Buffalo grocery store massacre happens and the gunman writes “BLM” and “Dylan Roof” on his weapon to spell out his racist motive it proves that there is still SOOO much work to be done.

So please, let’s continue to have those tough conversations and let’s continue to look hatred and bigotry in the eyes the same way we were all willing to the summer of 2020, bc it still exists…but a future without it does too. #blacklivesstillmatter

Eight whole months of you redefining me to my very core!! ⚡️ I’m more of myself today than I have ever been and I owe all of that to your existence. Loving you is my greatest joy + my truest purpose, Christopher Teagan. Xx 📸: @southern_stitched

This post is dedicated to Teagan’s two little bottom teeth!! They popped up back in April and are a reminder that bebé is growing every single day. 🥹🥹🥹 Nothing makes me more proud than to watch him develop and become more of himself. Being his mama is my greatest joy!!! #babyboy #boymom #blackbabies

Spent some time earlier this week setting a few intentions. I think sometimes we get so caught up in the accomplishment that we forget the purpose, the reason, or even the overall plan. Life gets soo busy, time moves soo quickly, and we juggle sooo much that it can be hard to stay focused. That’s why I’m soo thankful @hart_studio + @cleobella forced us to take a moment a reset our intentions— before a lovely meal with Saki pairings! We then used those intentions + motivations to create custom necklaces from Hart’s latest gemstone drop! Excited to have a physical reminder of my WHY!⚡️⚡️ #apincksc #shadedofpinck

One last time y’all bc I’m still not over my trip to Malibu with @showmeyourmumu this past weekend. 💕🌊🌴 What I loved most though was that @cammymumu + @colognemumu proved that @barbie really is EVERY woman!! She’s creative, strong-willed, inclusive, kind-hearted, determined, giving …and very very stylish!!! Though the point of the weekend was to celebrate this fun collab, it also became a celebration of the fact that women can be + do whatever they want—as long they have the perfect outfit for the occasion! #barbie #apinckworld #shadesofpinck

Exactly one week ago today, I gathered with my intimate Bible Study group for one final time to break bread together amongst a beautiful table setting. 2 years ago, when the world was in a state of despair + I found myself questioning sooo much, @allieroyall made the decision to open her home and help us find answers through our savior, Jesus Christ. Every Wednesday morning we’d gather and @mermerkelly would lead us spiritually through her experiences and knowledge. We’d dive into the gospel, share what was weighing heavy on our hearts, and remind ourselves that the pressures of life may be great— but God’s love is always greater. 🤍 These mornings have meant so much to me and though I am heart broken to see them end, I’m so very thankful to have had them at this time in my life. God has a funny way of giving your soul exactly what you need. #latergram #biblestudyfellowship #apincksc #shadesofpinck
