Growing up they were a staple at Sunday dinner, so I had watched my grandma make them countless times. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized she never used recipe cards for this dish (or really any); everything was by memory. And I honestly didn’t realize just how hard that would be for me until I followed her around the kitchen one day, writing it all down!!

One of the best ways to do that is to follow a soup recipe!

Not only are soups the best comfort food in the dead of winter when the temperatures drop, but they’re also a reminder that good things take time and are better from scratch. That’s because soups require loads of time and patience.

It marks the offical “middle of summer”, which means we’re on a downward hill to “back to school”. And if you ask me, the second half of summer alwayssss flies by.

I’m sure many of you will be attending festive events this weekend. If you’re like me, you hate arriving to an event empty handed, but also have very little time to put effort towards extracurriculars.

Pregnancy has brought many, many changes: I never wear pants, I need a nap to get me through the day, I eat way more than I ever have, and there are parts of my body I can no longer see unless there’s a mirror involved. But the biggest change thus far would have to be no longer having the ability to enjoy craft cocktails whenever I please. Until I found out I was expecting, I didn’t realize just how much refreshing libations were apart of my life.

But what’s not to love? Everyone in your family gathering around a beautifully set table while enjoying dishes + recipes that have been passed down for generations.

Still sad that this year is going to look completely different, but we’ve decided to try something new to add a little excitement to the day. After we have dinner, outdoors at our favorite local restaurant, we’re going to all come back home + have a dessert party.

While we’ve definitely started to (safely) spend more time in our community, we aren’t going “out for drinks” nearly as often as we use to. Instead, we’ve been choosing happy hour at home! And with summer ending soon, it’s only fair we try to spend as much time outdoors as possible.

In an effort to make every moment feel special, even if it’s just a night at home, I wanted to introduce new cocktails to our HH.
