Becoming a mother changed how I viewed my own upbringing! It was then I realized the responsibility women carry of being a cultural stewards.

My upcoming book, Grits + Grace, is a love letter to my heritage— and all the women before me that saw it as their responsibility to pass down, too! #inmygwynns

A birthday weekend worthy of the man that makes every day feel like a birthday!!!

I’m in Charleston this week with the @83press team photographing images for my book that showcases the parallels between West African culture and Southern culture …and the role that Gullah Geechee women, like Florence, played in that.
I’ve spent months reconnecting with women in my family that I’ve never got the chance to meet, and yet owe sooo much of who I am to. I’m beyond excited to welcome y’all into our family next fall— and remind you of the impact Black South Carolinians had on this nation.

Every family’s story is worth remembering. What was your great-grandmother’s name?!?!?

This birthday party may have been my favorite thus far— but I say that every year!!! Lol

Can’t believe my baby is FIVE! He’s the biggest blessing (and headache lol) I’ve ever been given. So I’ll celebrate the day he was born until the end of my days!

REALLY EXCITED to share the launch of a project that is veryyyy close to my heart!!

Over the summer @petitekeep reached out with an opportunity to help design fabric that would live inside their keepsake trunks and I couldn’t have been more honored.

As someone who believes every family’s story should be passed on, who saves physical memories from various experiences, and who started a @petitekeep trunk for my son as soon as he was born… I jumped at the opportunity to help others save their memories.

I’ll be sharing more about my inspiration behind “The Legacy Weave” in the coming days, but just know that it was designed to honor heritage and the resilience of the community that raised me.
