You expect the holidays to be filled with magic and surprises, but never did I expect to find myself mingling in the East Wing of the White House during one of the Obama’s last Christmas parties. Pure magic! From the moment I stepped foot on property I knew it would be one of those lifetime experiences that I’ll look back on, much later in life, and be even more proud about it than I am right now.

Thailand is easily one of the most unique countries I have ever visited, so its no surprise that shopping in Thailand would also be just as unique. While there I visited two markets that were both unlike anything I had ever experienced. Both sold what you would expect from any typical market (fruits, souvenirs, and fresh meats), but what made these markets anything but typical were their locations. You can expect one thing from Halloweekend every year…the Columbia City Ballet will perform their hit original ballet, Dracula!

This year, following the Friday night performance at the Koger Center, the company hosted a fundraising black-tie gala next door at the newly built Darla Moore School of Business.

Guests left the performance and walked straight into Dracula’s castle where they were greeted by dead corpses, giant spider webs, haunted forest animals, and a long dining room table set for a feast.

Trying to figure out how this super average Thursday turned into one helluva way to kick off November!

Way earlier this morning, I did my very first style segment for Columbia’s WACH Fox News–thanks to my friend and anchor, Destiny Chance! I showed three stylish outfits options for this weekend’s Homecoming game.

The first look was the most casual, although the top definitely spiced it up! It consisted of a pair of super comfortable Articles of Society jeans ($88) in merlot and a black Line and Dot tie-neck blouse with ruffled arms ($128).

I absolutely love Halloween!! I live for excuses to get dressed up and be around people that are obsessing over their outfit as much as I am. Halloween is that night, except on steroids because it allows –no encourages– everyone to go as over the top as they possibly can!

October is by far my most favorite month of the year!

I love everything about it: watching the leaves change color, rediscovering my fashion favorites that have been buried in a box for the past 6 months, and everyone’s insatiable need to be outdoors since they know that in a few weeks it will be cold. Coincidentally, I even love people that are born this month. (I celebrate more birthdays in October than I do all year)

When choosing a new pair of shoes, I always gravitate towards heels. They’re always sexy, feminine, and fashionable. But the truth is they’re never comfortable so I can’t spend every day in heels. The air is brisk in the morning, so there’s no denying that Fall upon us.

This is by far the best time of the year to stroll down Main Street before your day begins! I like to grab a cup of coffee, well really a chia tea latte — with skim milk, and walk a few blocks. In that 10 minutes I set personal goals for the upcoming day, reflect on the previous day, or just think happy, positive thoughts (like what I’m grateful for or what made me laugh last).

We had chatted a few times through email before about me writing the travel column for the newspaper, but this was my first time meeting her in person. Writing is personal, and I feel like columns are successful when readers feel like they know, and like, the writer.
