Nestled within The Landmark, Tiffany’s iconic 5th Avenue flagship store in New York City, is the Blue Box Café by Daniel Boulud. This long-awaited eatery recently reopened after closing its doors in 2019. And trust me, it’s the ultimate indulgence for every Breakfast At Tiffany’s fan.

Back in June, I met up with my beauty queen besties for our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY trip! (At least) once a year since the summer of 2013 when we all competed for the title of Miss USA the four of us have made a point to meet up somewhere face-to-face. I would say it’s hard to believe it’s been a whole decade since we’ve been doing this, but the truth is, the four of us have been there for soooo many life-changing events over the years that it’s not so shocking that they would all add up to ten by now lol.

We kicked June (aka the greatest month of the year) off at an event that is 100% my idea of a good time!

The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic took place on Liberty State Park (just outside of NYC) on June 1st and it combined my two favorite things: an excuse to get dressed up + an excuse to day drink! *Extra points for including horses.

It was one of those events that you anticipate going for years (like Coachella), so when you finally make it you’re just praying it lives up to the hype.

The New York Fashion Week event I had been looking forward to the most was my evening with Diane von Fürstenburg!

DVF is a former princess, turned designer, turned fashion icon! Shortly after marrying then husband, Prince Egon of Fürstenberg, Diane began designing women’s clothing.  In 1974, she introduced her knitted jersey wrap dress and was instantly catapulted into fashion history. That design, which is still being produced today, was eventually inducted into the collection of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

What do you wear when you’re about to meet royalty?

If they’re a designer you should probably wear something they created.

Unfortunately, all of the DVF pieces I own are more functional than they are fabulous (at least not fabulous enough to meet her in)…I don’t own any vintage DVF pieces. So instead, I decided to do something a little different and wear what I thought she would have worn back in the 70s during her Studio 54 days with Andy Warhol!

Ok, sure it wasn’t technically day one since New York Fashion Week had begun the week before, but Monday September 12th was when I arrived so for all intents and purposes it was Day One.

I’m proud to say that I have a couple NYFWs under my belt. I may not be a Bryant Park veteran, but being that I’ve experienced the event at both Lincoln Center and at IMG’s Skylight venues, I am able to compare it to the past as if I’m one of those fashion insiders who’s presence alone renders more of a statement than most things on the runway.

The day started bright early with John Paul Ataker’s 10am show at the Skylight at Moynihan Station’s Dock space. John Paul Ataker is an Istanbul-born house that was first established as a custom tailor shop. Three decades later and the label has emerged as Hollywood’s go-to for luxury craftsmanship, unique fabrics, and “ready-to-wear” couture.

When we arrived to the show, we were escorted to our seats through the backstage area.

Day two of NYFW was by far my busiest day.

For that reason, this was both the best …& worst outfit I could have chosen to wear. All day, we were in and out of various venues, crossing paths with some of the most powerful people in fashion, not to mention dozens of sidewalk paparazzi. I’m happy to know that most people’s first impression of me, as well as the hundreds of street-style photographs now floating around the internet, happened in that fully beaded vintage jacket.

I had the pleasure once again this season to attend Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in NYC

Last September (S/S 2014) was my first time ever attending a show “in the tents”. It was a magical experience, one that I had waited my entire life for, so when the opportunity presented itself once again I did not dare turn it down.

Now, I am not a buyer, I am not an editor, I am not a stylist, I do not work in the industry (yet), and until a couple of weeks ago I was not even a blogger.
