Back in June, I met up with my beauty queen besties for our TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY trip! (At least) once a year since the summer of 2013 when we all competed for the title of Miss USA the four of us have made a point to meet up somewhere face-to-face. I would say it’s hard to believe it’s been a whole decade since we’ve been doing this, but the truth is, the four of us have been there for soooo many life-changing events over the years that it’s not so shocking that they would all add up to ten by now lol.

Earlier this month we took a quick trip to wine country– WITH AN INFANT!! I’m here to report that you can totally do it, but you should be prepared to ensure you make the most of your trip. Be sure to make a reservation before arriving as most wineries only allow children during specific hours and it fills up quickly. Also, be sure to pack your baby wrap bc there a few vineyards that banned strollers.

We bid farewell to summer with our annual trip to Martha’s Vineyard this past week. It’s hard to believe that the boys’ start school tomorrow, and that I’ll be giving birth sooo soon.

We love visiting The Vineyard this time year because the first couple of weeks in August are kinda like an HBCU reunion. It’s filled with parties, comedy shows, long days at The Inkwell, and even a film festival, which makes it a great time from start to finish.

This past week my assistant, Areyhon, and I took a trip to the city of dreams to shoot for one of my all-time favorite brands to work with: Show Me Your Mumu. It wasn’t quite a vacation, we still had a ton of things we needed to do for SoP, but we did make sure to squeeze in time to explore (it was her first trip to LA) and time to connect with some of my friends that are lucky enough to call this place home.

Every Spring Break we take an annual trip out West to ski Beaver Creek Mountain, just outside of Vail, Colorado. It’s become a tradition that we all look forward to. And after having to skip last year because of the mandatory shut downs, we were all extra eager this year. But we never stay in Beaver Creek for the entire week. Not only are we kinda over the snow after a handful of days, it’s also gawd awful expensive.

Nothing stressed me out more before my first ski trip than packing. I had no idea what I would need and no one I was going with was any help…at all. They’d just say things like “warm clothes” and “things to eat dinner in”. It sounded simple enough, but I grew up in The South where I saw snow fall twice. Dressing warmly enough to roll around in the snow was not a concept I could easily grasp.

This week the kids will start back school, but last week felt like our first taste of summer. It was the fist time in nearly 6 months we took a family vacation that required air travel. We’re use to spending the summers hopping from location to location, experiencing as much as we can before the kids are back in a Monday-Friday routine, but this summer hasn’t seen much adventure, as expected.

We landed in Martha’s Vineyard this past weekend and have been making ourself at home ever since.

We first visited the Vineyard three summers ago, but only stayed for the weekend. Since then we’ve been dreaming of renting a house for a week at the end of summer. Because there aren’t a ton of houses, and most homes have been occupied by the same renters for generations, it’s kinda hard to lock in a rental.

This wasn’t my first time visiting Wilmington, in fact, one of the most memorable holidays I ever had in college was with my roommates to visit their hometown friend that was attending UNCW. But after arriving downtown Wilmington this past week with Venita for a quick little trip, I realized I had previously only ever been to the beach.

WOW! Didn’t realize what I was missing out on. Lucky for me, we had two days to explore this eclectic little town and experience everything it has to offer.
