This week, I co-hosted a pop-up at Hotel Trundle (one of my favorite spots in all of Colatown) with Charleston-based Norton and Hodges, a luxury accessories brand that’s handcrafted in and inspired by Africa.

I met the owner, Suzette, like I do with most other small brands– on Instagram! She invited me to her studio above Broad Street and when I arrived we instantly hit it off. We shared our love for African safaris with one another then she showcased pieces from her latest collection and I sat while marveled at every single thing.

For the first time ever, I’m going to be hosting Thanksgiving Dinner…which is both scary and exciting all at once!

I’ve made countless phone calls to the women in my family, asking for advice, finalizing the menu, and asking for them to all make that one dish that they make better than everyone else (…so I don’t have to). I’m trying to stay organize and stay cool so that everything works out.

Lucky for me, there was one aspect of dinner that I didn’t have to worry about at all — the tablescape!

Is there a triple crown for attending three horse functions in one year? If so, I think I deserve it for my appearances at the Carolina Cup in Camden this past spring, the Veuve Clicquot Polo Match right outside of NYC this past summer, and the Steeplechase of Charleston this past weekend!

It was my very first Steeplechase and, as luck would have it, the forecast cooperated. After a full week of steady showers across the state, Sunday was sunny and in the mid-50s…a lovely November afternoon by any account and the perfect excuse to spend the day outdoors.

Last week I had the pleasure of dinning under the stars in the heart of Charleston at Hotel Bennett’s restaurant Gabrielle. The weather was perfect, the conversation with some of my favorite Charlestonians was motivating, and the food was simply amazing. It was truly a memorable evening!

Gabrielle, under the direction of Chef Michael Sichel, recently released their fall menu and I fell more in love with each dish that was brought out.

When we returned home from our trip to Egypt, we were welcomed with slightly cooler temperatures and a whole lot less humidity. That’s right– it’s finally starting to feel like Fall in the South and I, for one, couldn’t be happier! While I love summertime, it’s hard to resist the time of year that reminds you to appreciate nature. Between consciously dressing for the weather with layers to intentionally incorporating seasonal fruits and vegetables into every meal (pumpkin spice, anyone?), there’s something about Fall that warms my soul.

Lately, I’ve been making an effort to transition to using more “clean” beauty products– I have to use the quotations because I can only trust that these products are actually natural as I haven’t personally tested their ingredients. I’ve gotten rid of products that I’ve been using (some for almost a decade) and replaced them with the things I’ve linked below.

I love when friends + family come visit us! One of the (only) perks of living in a different city than the people you’re closest to is that when they do come they tend to spend the weekend.

For the longest, our guest room was pathetic. Not because there weren’t nice, comfortable pieces in it, but because there was no effort to create a mood. In fact, it was just a collection of furniture my fiancé had purchased for other parts of the house and they just kinda ended up in that room.

I can’t believe we’re already at the end of July. Before you know it the thick, sticky air will fade into cooler fall nights and there will be no more lake days, or late sunsets. But before those days arrive, I’m making it a point to take full advantage of the season. And the best way to do that, without a doubt, is to eat al fresco (outdoors).

I recently teamed up with JCPenney to host an intimate “summer-themed” luncheon for 4, complete with banana leaf tablecloth and the ULTIMATE summer dessert– homemade PIE!
